Bootcamp 🦾

The Scrimba Bootcamp recently introduced group projects!

We're excited to share that our students have been hard at work building some fantastic projects, including a Salesboard app and a Mobile Ordering app. As we continue to roll out more projects, we want to remind our students that they can always request to make any project a group project in the meantime.

Here’s how group projects help students level up and prepare for real-world projects:

βœ… Gain experience collaborating on projects using Git and GitHub

βœ… Work on different aspects of an app with a small group

βœ… Develop valuable communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

βœ… Create issues, branches, and pull requests that you review, just like on actual dev teams

βœ… Get thorough reviews of your projects from our team of experienced code reviewers

You can learn more about the bootcamp here.

New Hires πŸŽ‰

Check out the February compilation of our successful students! Here you can browse all the stories of these newly hired devs.

Also, big congratulations to all the Scrimba students who’ve landed jobs this week! πŸ₯³ πŸŽ‰

Sejo landed their first frontend job after transitioning from print and design without a college degree. They applied for jobs daily, built their Github portfolio, and persevered through setbacks. Sejo credits their success to the Scrimba front-end path and plans to further their knowledge through the UI design path.

Sejo’s story is inspiring to those who doubt their ability to break into the tech industry. They prove that with determination, hard work, and a commitment to learning, it’s possible to achieve one’s goals and pursue a fulfilling career in tech, even without a traditional college degree!

Code Review of the Week πŸ…

Anyone can create a code review in response to a project posted in the #πŸ”Žcode-reviews channel, but only Pro members can request one.

This week’s Code Review of the Week is by Hafsat! you can check it out here.

To learn how to submit a code review, check out this scrim by Instructor Guil Hernandez!

I Built This πŸ› οΈ

Let’s highlight some of the work that our Scrimba community members have completed!

Dmitry has built a React-based contact book that allows users to dynamically search through existing contacts, add new ones, and remove those that are no longer needed! They are considering implementing a local storage feature to make the app even more useful.

Dmitry’s skills in developing a dynamic and functional React-based app like a contact book are impressive! This project requires a solid understanding of the framework and some complex programming concepts, which Dmitry has clearly mastered. The addition of a local storage feature shows their attention to detail and dedication to improving the user experience. It’s clear that Dmitry’s hard work and commitment to learning have paid off, and they are well on their way to becoming a talented developer.

Check out the live deployment here.

What have you built this week? Share it with us in the πŸ‘·i-built-this channel!

Fab Resource πŸ“š

Scrimba Podcast πŸŽ™οΈ

Meet Lane Wagner us! Lane is an engineering manager and the founder of Boot.dev.

In this episode, as an experienced leader and educator, Lane talks about the recent changes in the job market and what they mean for aspiring and established developers alike. With tech layoffs and Al that can write code, how do you even stand out?

Lane and Alex discuss the future of the industry as well as the ongoing recession and why it seems to hit tech companies especially hard. You’ll learn what’s the main difference between a developer and an Al that can write code and how to focus on it. They also talk about different types of companies, how different paths require different strategies to break into tech, and why it’s okay to change companies as that’s the quickest way to learn and figure out what works for you..
